This trek is of moderate difficulty, with the only challenging section being the ascent to the highest peak of Piatra Craiului National Park. Over the course of 2 days, we will immerse ourselves in the breathtaking landscapes of one of Romania's most beautiful mountain ranges. Our journey begins and ends in Brașov, one of Romania’s most famous and vibrant tourist cities, known for its medieval charm and proximity to the Carpathian Mountains.
Each day of the trek involves 5 to 8 hours of hiking, taking us through some of the most picturesque and rugged terrains in the region. Along the way, we’ll visit a traditional sheep farm (from June to September), where you’ll experience the time-honored practices of local shepherds, and enjoy a chance to taste some of the delicious dairy products that are a hallmark of the area.
As we trek through the park, we’ll also pass through two enchanting mountain villages, Măgura and Peștera, nestled at the foot of the mountains. These villages are known for their rustic charm and warm hospitality, and we’ll have the chance to stay overnight at a local guesthouse, where you can indulge in authentic Romanian cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients.
If the weather permits and you're up for the challenge, we may climb to the highest peak in the National Park, at 2238 meters. This peak offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks, making the climb a rewarding and memorable experience. In addition to the summit, the trek will also take us through the Zărnești Gorges, a stunning natural feature with dramatic rock formations and lush vegetation that creates an awe-inspiring atmosphere.
In short, this is an authentic adventure in Transylvania, combining the beauty of nature, the culture of traditional mountain communities, and the thrill of conquering one of Romania's most iconic peaks. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or someone looking to experience the magic of the Carpathians, this trek offers something for everyone.

Great 2 day hike in mountains and villages
Marian organized a 2 day hike for me at the last minute. It was really really great. The hikes were beautiful, the guesthouses lovely and the guides really knew their stuff. Would highly recommend reaching out to Marian if you want to plan something similar. The Romanian countryside is picture perfect
