Experience a full-day trekking adventure in the Fagaras Mountains, Romania's most renowned massif, with this private tour starting and ending in Brasov.
As we drive onto Romania's iconic Transfagarasan Road, you will learn of this route's rich history.
Open from July 1 to October 31, the road journey from Brasov to Balea Lake takes approximately 2 hours.
Upon reaching Balea Lake, you will trek to Capra Lake, with the option to ascend the Vanatoarea lui Buteanu peak at 2,507 meters or enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake (weather-dependent).
The tour concludes with the choice of lunch at Balea Lake Hotel. The total hike duration is approximately 4-5 hours.
From November to June, the route changes to the Valea Sambetei area in the Fagaras Mountains.
Tour highlights:
Transfagarasan road - built as a strategic military route, it is the highest (2042m) and most dramatic paved road in Romania. It runs North to South across the highest sections of the Carpathian Mountains. The road connects the historic regions of Transylvania and Wallachia.
Balea Lac is a natural glacier lake at 2040m, 360 meters long, 240 meters wide and 11 meters deep.
Balea Waterfall with its 60 meters height it is one of the most famous waterfalls in Romania.
Duration: 9 - 11 hours (driving about 4 hours, hiking about 5 hours).
